we’ve all gone through friendless periods in our lives. don’t fall into the trap of thinking there’s something intrinsically wrong with you - that is a) untrue and b) a belief that will make your isolation grow and cause feelings of worthlessness that will prevent you from accepting people into your life because you feel like you’re not deserving of their friendship
My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.
This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content–it’s easy and addictive.
What we’re NOT getting is that ‘slow dopamine’ that’s more sustainable and engaging. That’s the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.
So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.
Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You’ll feel better for it.
best part of princess bride is that inigo loudly and openly states to anybody who will listen that he’s going to kill a guy for revenge and has been chasing this for a while and instead of anybody saying “but revenge wont bring ur father back are u really sure that killing this guy will make anything better arent u scared of regretting the one thing uve spent ur entire life chasing” they’re all just like “yea dude sounds cool hope you find him” and then he does and inigo kills him and is just “aw cool my dads avenged now i can go ride off into the sunset with my friends” and i think thats actually really great. yea maybe revenge isnt always the answer but it sure does make you feel better
To be fair, he did say “Huh, I’ve spent my whole life in pursuit of this one goal but now it’s done and I don’t know what to do with myself.”
That’s why it’s important to have friends and hobbies - friends can offer helpful suggestions like Wesley did AND you know you have other skills that you can utilize for your next big project.

Why are people so stupid I just saw an ig reel of an artist being like “tee hee we weren’t allowed to record at this nude life drawing session but I took a risk!!! Here’s my processes I videoed” you idiot thats such a huge violation of that model’s privacy. They’re not saying you can’t record because they hate you they’re saying that you can’t record to keep the model out of a potentially exploitative environment that’s such a shitty thing to do. They have rules for those sessions for a reason and as an artist you should be trying to make the situation as respectful and comfortable as you can for the model you’re drawing and that includes keeping your fucking camera device in your pocket
Also they put a kind of nsfw song over it and idk how to articulate this but it feels really shitty to take a person who’s literally just doing their job as a figure model and not only record when asked not to but then also portray them in a sexual light for no reason. Like life drawing sessions are not sexy in the slightest and the models are not there to be sexualised and its not right to do that to them. If you can’t abide by the boundaries established in life drawing sessions then you don’t respect the model that you’re drawing and you shouldn’t be there in the first place because it’s a very delicate situation that can go south and hurt people very easily
Idk maybe I’m being overdramatic over this but if did any of that shit my professors would literally have kicked me out of the program
